A Bit About Me
Freedom to Live an Active, Full Life

Muscle tension and pain can make you tired, low and irritable. Simple actions like putting on your socks, painting your toenails, reaching up or down into cupboards, going up or down stairs or failing to get the front parking spot at the supermarket, can become big issues when your body won’t move easily. It can feel like you're hauling your body through the day resulting in tiredness and low energy.
Lack of confidence about your body's abilities can make you fear injury or embarrassment — causing you to back off from opportunities and social invitations. All of this can result in feeling frustrated with fewer options for fun and fewer things you can do.
Fortunately, you can reverse your situation — often pretty quickly — by learning to align your entire body’s overall structure and support your joints as well as fine tuning how your brain engages your muscles. This is where Pilates becomes your secret weapon!
How do I know? I’ve had to do it myself.

30 years of a sedentary job left me with excruciating low back, groin and hip pain. The continual pain stopped me sleeping, working and doing any activity involving standing or walking. I was just existing one day at a time praying the pain would go. Pain killers brought temporary, slight relief but were not something I wanted to rely on for life and the health professionals, although sympathetic, didn't have a magic cure. They did, however, suggest Pilates and I haven’t looked back since that first class. Within a few sessions, I was out of constant pain. Learning how to align my body, engage my core, build strength and release tension, I amazed the hospital Physio with my progress. I was moving very differently and committed practice brought me out of pain completely. Once I was doing the right things, I was pain-free within just a few months. As a result, my life opened up again. In fact it opened up so much, I changed professions and trained as a Pilates Teacher. Helping others achieve the freedom of a pain-free life is what I do now. Watching others get that aha moment when they realise they need not limit life as they age but can rock it with some simple maintenance and habits, is immensely satisfying.
